Fort Mylner Shopping Center was the first strip mall built on the eastern end of St. Thomas. Constructed in the late 1960's, Fort Mylner Shopping Center marked the beginning of what would is the largest residential area and neighborhood shopping district on the island. The shopping center consists of three single-story structures. The anchor tenants include a home furnishing store and the retail branch of a major finance company in the main 21,600 square foot building, and a fast food outlet on a 2,800 square foot outpad. A second 1,800 square foot pad is also on the property. Lockhart purchased the shopping center in 1996.
Fort Mylner Shopping Center is strategically located at the main crossroads from the eastern end of St. Thomas to points west. The shopping center's position provides an affordable, less-congested and convenient alternative to tenants and customers alike in this unique commercial district.
Ten (10) tenants ranging in size from 300 to 4,800 square feet currently occupy Fort Mylner Shopping Center's main building and one of the two out parcels.
